Ladies Section

This little gem of a Golf Course has a friendly Ladies’ Section, which has Tuesday as its Ladies’ Day, when Members take part in fun and serious competitions (Medals, Stablefords and a variety of Trophy Competitions). Medal/Stableford competitions are also held at the weekend for those Ladies unable to play on Tuesdays. The Competition Board looks very busy in the welcoming Ladies’ Room at the Club. At the end of the main competition season the Ladies have a Presentation Evening rounding off the evening with a Dinner provided by our Catering Staff.

The Ladies’ Section holds two Open Competitions each year, the Ladies AM-AM in July and a 3 Ball Alliance held in August. The Ladies also organise a Mixed Open during June and take part in many national prestigious competitions – the Daily Mail Foursomes, the Peugeot Coronation Foursomes, and many more.

We have a flourishing Bridge Section, (particularly when the weather is not quite so kind), along with two Charity Bridge Drives during the year.

The Droitwich League, for Handicaps of 21 and under, holds 5 matches during the season and there are 12 inter-club Friendlies for the higher handicappers – up to 36. Special Club Nights are held on a Thursday evening twice monthly throughout June, July and August; a 9 hole friendly competitions followed by Supper.

During the year there are seven Mixed competitions mainly held at the Weekends, along with the Frank Vincent Trophy – Knockout Competition – played from May to September. The exception is the Midsummer Madness, not for the faint hearted – an early start of 7.00am finished off with Bucks Fizz and a Full English breakfast!

To complement the super Golf facilities the Club hosts many social events throughout the year, usually accompanied by wonderful food and great company.

The Club has vacancies for new lady members and anyone interested in taking up the game of golf, or joining EGC, should contact Fraser Williamson (Secretary) on 01386 860395 or email the club via our contact page.

Last Tuesday saw an impressive field of Lady golfers setting out to play the annual Vet’s Trophy, a 12 hole Stableford competition for Ladies of a certain age or over! The youngsters ( !!) had a separate competition, with the same format over 12 holes and playing for the Captain’s Friendly Shield.
Due to the adverse weather conditions of the previous week, the Competition had to be played on the Blue course over 13 holes instead of 12
.

The day ended with a delicious dinner prepared by Bev and Rhiannon and we were joined by several Past Captains who had been unable to play in the Competition. Unsurprisingly, it was still raining when we left the Club!!

Senior Ladies Championship

Despite a rather worrying weather forecast thirteen Ladies set out to play in the annual Senior Ladies competition last Friday. This is a Stableford competition played over 9 holes for a Trophy donated many years ago by Audrey Piddington , one of our Past Lady Captains.

As the morning progressed, it was evident that the weatherman at the BBC had got the forecast spot on and as the sky darkened, the expected rain showers began to fall. One or two Ladies decided to call it a day and headed for the shelter of the clubhouse where coffee and dry clothes were very welcome!

The remaining Ladies finished the competition just before the heavens really opened and the greens began to flood. By then we were all warm and dry and enjoying an excellent lunch prepared by Bev and her catering staff.

Results: Winner with 15 points, Carol Yates, runner up with 13 points, Margaret Roberts and in third place with 12 points was Angela Fletcher.

On the 9th Joan and Mel both had a bogey, on the 1st they both parred the hole then Joan birdied the 2nd giving her the title of Club Champion. Well done Joan.

A Medal Competition was also played with Gill Smith winning with an impressive nett 66, well done Gill

The results of the Winter Eclectic were also announced with the winners - Marlene Billings and Melanie Evans splitting the title.

There were several handicap reductions, including Gill Smith down to 24, Eunice Allen down to 25 and Margaret Roberts down to 30. Well done ladies.

Lady Captains’ Day

On this fine, early June day, 28 ladies played a Joker competition. This fun competition, played in teams of two, each team had 6 Jokers in sealed envelopes. An envelope may be opened at any hole before teeing off, contents included - ‘double your score at this hole’, 'have a free putt’, ‘use a lifeline’ - all a mystery, which added to the fun.

After an enjoyable game the ladies were joined by some non playing members for tea, and delicious strawberries and cream For further amusement there was a small competition for the best composed limerick. Lady Captain read the various contributions. The winners, as decided by Gill Smith, were table two, who’s limerick received raucous laugh from all. There was also a raffle, where a further £100 was raised, with unusual prizes donated by kind and generous lady members. Lady Captain thanked the many members who helped her make the day so successful.

Tuesday 29th May - Bisque Competition

An interesting competition was played today, called Bisque. Prior to playing the teams of three had to nominate 5 holes where they felt they could score well, as their scores were then doubled and all three scores counted. Not an easy task I was told, perhaps handicaps were discussed too! On the remaining 13 holes, the best two scores were counted. The weather was pleasant with only a slight breeze to contend with, so a good time was had by all.

The winners with an amazing score of 102 points were Margaret Williams, Gill Smith and Conryn Abbott.

Daphne Shields Trophy - Tuesday 22nd May 2018

Another beautiful day saw our Ladies play for the Daphne Shields Trophy, presented to the club by a past Lady Captain (then Daphne Caddell) in 1974. The course was in superb condition with excellent run and fast greens. The overall scoring was high even with many ladies telling their tales of misfortune on certain holes. Our winner with an excellent stableford score of 39 points was Marlene Billings, The runner up was Margaret Williams with 35 points.

Photo of a very happy Marlene Billings who also reduced her handicap with her amazing game - well done Marlene.

May Medal - Tuesday 15th May

On a beautiful sunny and warm day our ladies strode out to play in the May Medal. The course conditions were superb with the greens running fast so the putts were going down perfectly, not all would agree with the latter statement, I’m sure. The CSS was 76 meaning a reduction only for handicaps. A nine hole qualifier was also played with the winner being Sheelagh Crane, how wonderful to see her back playing, well done Sheelagh. It was also lovely to see Gillian Spencer, who joined us for tea, we look forward to seeing her back playing as soon as possible.

Pictured is our new Lady Captain, Patsy Brumage, centre, presenting the cups to Marlene Billings and Lesley Curnock.

Evesham Ladies Golf Break

20 ladies went to Puckrup Hall in Tewkesbury for two days of golf, fun and laughter. Sadly the weather wasn’t kind to us this year with a very wet back nine and persistent rain all day on Monday. However, that didn’t stop the fun we had in a superb location where we were looked after exceptionally well. The evening was fun with fabulous food, everyone had an enjoyable time and look forward to the next time.

Runners up with a net 75 were Sally Deakin, Jenny Masser, Yvonne Kriese and Enid Walker.

Unfortunately the choice of hole for the nearest the pin was somewhat tricky as it was up hill with a green surrounded by bunkers, so proving a little difficult especially with the weather and the playing conditions.

Tuesday 3rd April - Texas Scramble

What a day of mixed weather, everything was thrown at us - rain, hail, shine and wind. Twenty four ladies played in teams of three in this fun competition. All ladies had to have at least four drives each, thereby thoughtful decisions were needed.

Runners up with a net 72.5 were Ruth Masters, Melanie Evans and Vina Kite.

Tuesday 27th March 2018 Stableford

Division 1 Lesley Curnock with 37 points and Melanie Evans was runner up with 33 points

Division 2 Conryn Abbott with 35 points and Jill Cleary was runner up with 31 points

Division 3 Pat Saville with 35 points and Margaret Roberts was runner up 32 points

Medal - Tuesday 20th March 2018

This was the first medal of the season. However, as all the bunkers were GUR due to the lying snow it was a non qualifier. Nineteen Ladies took part and apart from a very light shower, the weather was very pleasant.

Winners were as follows:-

Division 1 Mel Evans with a net 82 and Jenny Marston was runner up with a net 86
Division 2 Gill Smith with a net 78 and Conryn Abbott was runner up with a net 79.

Daily Mail Foursomes

Angela Fletcher and Penny Osborne played in the Daily Mail Foursomes 1st round against Broadway on 10th March. Their opponents were Lin Andrew, previous member at Evesham GC who plays off 10 and her playing partner Linda Caruthers, who plays off 4. Fortunately the weather had eased but snow was still lying on parts of the course, particularly in the bunkers.

Broadway started well taking the first 2 holes, Evesham coming back to all square on the 7th. Broadway went up a gear to be 2 up at the turn. Evesham won one further hole on the 12th to be beaten on the 15th, 5-3.

The match was played with great spirit, allowing Angela and Penny a most enjoyable first experience of this competition.

Ladies Captain’s Drive In

On Tuesday 6th March we held our Ladies Captains' Drive in. This was far from an ordinary event as four ladies are sharing this role with a three month period each. It will be an interesting year which we all embrace and very much look forward to. Perhaps this will be the way forward as more and more ladies have other commitments so sharing will be the new norm? Evesham Golf Club lead, others follow?

Our four gracious Lady Captain's, Conryn Abbott, Eunice Allen, Patsy Brumage and Angela Budden were joined by Pat Saville to play their tee shot to anxious ladies waiting to be greeted by their balls. Nearest their balls were Gill Smith, Mel Evans, Hana Reid, Ruth Masters and Carolyn Washbourne. A Bogey Competition was then played in pleasant weather considering all the snow we had encountered over the previous weekend. The course was playing well with signs of spring as daffodils were raising their blooms despite being smothered by earlier snow.

Our winner in this formidable format was Ruth Masters with plus two, followed by her playing partner, Melanie Evans with plus 1.

The afternoon continued with birthday celebrations of one of our lovely lady members - Jackie Edmunds. We all enjoyed birthday cake, delightfully made by Ruth Masters, and a glass of wine in her honour.

A good day was had by all, well done ladies.

Stableford -Tuesday 27th January 2018

With snow showers forecasted our ladies still braved the elements to play a Stableford competition in teams of three. It wasn’t long before the first snow shower came, making visibility and ball spotting difficult. However, we battled on to finish 9 holes with some good scores coming in with 2 ladies achieving 20 points. The winner on count back was Ruth Masters followed by Jill Cleary.

The afternoon continued with a visit from Ken Piddington and his daughter Janet. They brought lovely photos of the late Audrey, who was a long standing member and very dear friend to many of our ladies. Ken was proud of these photos of Audrey as Lady Captain making many of her presentations. Janet continued by saying she was pleased to see so many of her mum’s friends in one of her favourite places. She said that her mum’s passions were her beloved Ken, her family, career and her love of golf. She said she was a ‘force to be reckoned with who lived life to the full and enjoyed her many holidays with Ken’.

It was a lovely afternoon and Eunice thanked Ken and Janet for sharing such treasured memories of Audrey. We all enjoyed sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and a glass of wine in Audrey’s memory. Thank you Ken and Janet, a very pleasant afternoon enjoyed by all.

American Foursomes - Tuesday 20th February

On a fine but breezy February day our ladies strode out to play American Foursomes where both players play tee shots at each hole, then play a second with their partners ball. One ball is then selected to continue to hole out. It’s a fun competition, needing a little thought and strategic planning on occasions. Good scores came in with the winners, Sally Deakin and Audrey Tomkins having 50.4, well done ladies. Our runners up with a respectable 53.4 were Mel Evans and Angela Budden.

4 Clubs and a Putter - 13th February 2018

We all knew that our good fortune of mild and dry January weather couldn’t last for our ladies on a Tuesday. Today was the day when a ‘band of wet weather’ was due to hit us by lunch time. It was therefore agreed to play a nine hole competition.

All armed with our bag of only 5 clubs we played this competition in good spirit.

The winner was Margaret Roberts with 16 points, closely behind was Sandy Insall with 15 points and in 3rd place was Conryn Abbott with 15 points (on count back).

Butcher’s Booty

Tuesday 16th January

Twenty six ladies braced the cold January air, with snow forecasted, to play the Back 9 in what was called the Butcher’s Booty (a delayed Turkey Trot due to snow in December). The format was an individual stableford so concentration was required at every hole.

The overall winner with 19 points was Sally Deakin, followed by Jill Cleary with 17 points (from count back to Margaret Roberts).

Texas Scramble - Tuesday 9th January

On a pleasant January morning a Texas Scramble was played over 12 holes, team members handicap less 7%. Scoring was good, with an impressive total of only 16 putts over 12 holes for the winning team consisting of Marlene Billings, Joan Hunt and Jean Bevan. Their total score was 48 points. Not far behind with 50 points were Ruth Masters, Jenny Marston and Margaret Roberts.

Christmas Competition

Marston, Bevan, Osborne and Baird take honours!

A week later than scheduled (Tuesday 19th December), due to the deluge of snow, the Christmas Competition was played in high spirits and an assortment of Christmas outfits. After a frosty start, the day turned out to be very pleasant without complaints of any cold toes or hands.

Thirty ladies played in drawn teams of four over nine holes with the best two scores to count.

The winning team with 44 points was Jenny Marston, Jean Bevan, Penny Osborne and Elaine Baird.

Happy Christmas to all our Ladies.

Tuesday 5th December - 4 Clubs and a Putter

A dry and mild day saw 30 ladies play in this 12 hole competition. We all asked our selves ‘why do we take a bag full of clubs when we can play with only 5?’. A very good question which the good scores confirmed.

Winner with 22 points was Margaret Roberts
Runner up with 21 points was Eunice Allen
3rd place with 20 points was Annie Bird

Tuesday 28th November - Back 9 Competition

On another bright but cold November day our ladies played the back nine holes in a stableford format for this competition. This time of the year our ladies rarely play holes 13-18 so it was an interesting challenge for some.

The winner, on count back with 17 points from Margaret Williams, was Eunice Allen, Patsy Brumage came in third.

Tuesday 21st November - Texas Scramble - Knockout

On another mild November day 35 ladies played in teams of three in this fun competition. All ladies needed to have at least three drives, a little challenging for some and thoughtful tactics needed. A pleasant day enjoyed by all with some good scores, gross less 10% of combined handicap - phew!

Our winning team with 52.6 were Vina Kite, Mel Evans and Ruth Masters
Runners Up with 54.4 were Lesley Curnock, Joan Hunt and Marlene Billings

Tuesday 14th November - Hidden Hole Competition

Our Ladies played in the Hidden Hole Competition, which is an interesting format as you can play reasonably well then get shot down on points depending on the holes our Pro has selected for the Hidden Holes! Eight holes were hidden so only scores on these holes counted, oh dear for some…

Our winning lady with 17 points was Margaret Roberts, closely followed with 16 points were Audrey Tompkins and Dinah Wood

Ladies Presentation Evening 2017

Thirty six ladies attended the presentation evening where everyone could celebrate their year of golf achievements. A number of trophies had been presented to winners throughout the year, however, there were still some remaining that were presented during the evening by the Lady Captain.

The day always starts with a twelve hole competition for the Vet’s Trophy for ladies over sixty years. The conditions were awful with the heavens opening when many ladies were playing. So torrential was the rain that some ladies abandoned their game. However, some determined ladies battled on. The winner was Angela Fletcher with 22 points closely followed by Penny Osborne with 20 points. For the remaining lucky ladies who haven’t reached the age to play in that competition a friendly stableford was played for to win the Captain’s Friendly Trophy. The winner was Lesley Curnock with Jill Cleary being the runner up.

Yellow Ball Competition

On a beautiful, warm and sunny October day our ladies played in a Yellow Ball Competition. This is a fun and interesting competition where the yellow ball rotates among the team members, changing after each hole. The player with the yellow ball doubles her stable fordscore. For some, double zero is still zero! However, some amazing scores came in, none better that 105 points for the winning team of Dee Machin, Lesley Curnock and Jenny Masser. Runners up with a good score of 95 were Joan Hunt, Margaret Roberts and Marlene Billings.

Senior Ladies Club Championship

Ladies Medal - 3rd October 2017

There was a reasonable turnout from the Ladies to play in the October Medal. It was a beautiful Autumn day with the trees now turning and leaves falling making ball spotting a little more difficult! However this did not cause too many problems as we had some good scores.

Evesham Golf Club Ladies Section welcomed 14 teams, including 10 from visiting clubs to enjoy a Three Ball Alliance Open Competition.

Unfortunately the only wet day of the week fell on this scheduled event. The rain was steady, with the occasional downpour but this didn’t dampen the spirits of our competing threesomes.

Our visiting ladies and lady members were greeted by a splendid display of exquisite prizes and a wonderful variety of raffle prizes. Food was available after the competition and served promptly and efficiently. Our sincere thanks to the organisers, Patsy Brumage, Pat Saville and Gil Smith who worked tirelessly to ensure this event was the success it was. £125 was raised from the raffle which is donated to the Captain’s Charity, The Acquired Brain Injury Trust.

Ladies Captain's Away Day 15th August

Twenty eight Ladies travelled to Bransford Golf Club to play and enjoy a fun competition in teams of four for the Ladies Captains' Away Day. The format was Stableford, best two scores to count and three scores on all Par 3's. There were also prizes for nearest the pin on all Par 3's.

The sun shone on a beautiful, lush course. It was tricky in places with a lot of water to challenge the minds. However this did not deter the competitive spirit with some high scores coming in.

Nearest the pin winners were Joan Hunt, Gill Smith, Mel Evans and Sandra Piovesana, pictured with Eunice Allen.

Runners Up with 83 points were Frances Wilkinson (Lady Captain Eunice Allen), Jean Bevan, Sandra Piovesana and Enid Walker

Lighting the extra large candle set off the fire alarm so everyone in the club house were made aware of the celebrations.

Many Happy Returns to Enid.

Pictures below give a flavour of the day!

Craycombe Trophy and Avon Cup

On Tuesday 8th August 26 ladies competed for either the Craycombe Trophy, maximum handicap 28 or the Avon Cup, handicaps 29-36, both playing stableford. We were fortunate that the forecasted rain kept away to enable good scores to come in resulting with some handicap changes.

In the the Craycombe Trophy the winner was Jenny Masser with 38 points, runner up was Margaret Williams with 35 points.

Lesley scores Hole in One!

On a wet Tuesday twenty ladies graced our course to compete in a Stableford qualifier. Some amazing scores came in to affect handicaps but none so greater than a hole in one on the 9th hole for Lesley Kewley. Playing with Pat Saville and Patsy Brumage, all three ladies could not see where the ball had ended, so surprise for all, when it was 'found' in the hole! Lesley thanked her playing partners for their support and encouragement to finish the round in what were awful conditions. Well done Lesley.

Ray Till Trophies

Saville & Spencer pairing triumph!

The Ladies played for the Ray Till Trophies this week this is a paired Greensome Bogey Competition.

The weather was great, the golf was great, the course was great and our two outright great winners were Gillian Spencer and Pat Saville winning overall by an impressive 5 shots.

Photo shows Gillian on the left, Pat in the centre and Jackie Edmunds awarding the two silver cups that her Father donated many years ago.

All Comers Trophy

Cleary takes the Honours!

The All Comers Charity Trophy, which was originally donated by Lila Bailey, is played once a year with all money going to the Captain's Charity which this year is the Aquired Brain Injuries Trust.

The event was held in the gale force conditions of Tuesday 6th June and my word was it difficult to play with bits of trees flying in all directions, the golf balls oscillating on the Greens and the gusts blowing us off balance on the tees. Thankfully the worst of the rain had abated as 19 intrepid ladies sallied forth to do battle. Well done to Jill Cleary who came in with a 'storming' score of 38pts.

Picture shows past Captain Conryn Abbott presenting trophy to Jill Cleary.

Friendly AM AM - Tuesday 30th May

32 ladies played in a Friendly AM AM, stableford, where the best two scores counted. It was a pleasant day with a slight breeze in some areas. The greens were playing a little slower than late due to recent rain but thankfully we did not have any rain to spoil our day. The day was enjoyed by all with some very good scores.

The winning ladies with an exceptional score of 85 points were:

Eunice Allen, Ruth Masters, Sally Deakin and Pat Saville - well done ladies

Runners up with a respectable score of 77 points were:

Marlene Billings, Anne Cowley, Gillian Spencer and Mel Evans

Daphne Shields Trophy 23rd May 2017

Past Captain takes glory!

30 ladies graced our course on an overcast but warm day to play a stableford competition to compete for the Daphne Shields Trophy.

The day was enjoyed by all and the winning lady was past captain Conryn Abbott with a great score of 38.

Runner up, on count back to Margaret Roberts, was Jean Bevan with a score of 35.

Well done ladies.

Huntingdon Cups - Tuesday 9th May

Twenty six ladies graced our course on a pleasant sunny day in drawn pairs for the Huntingdon Cups. Apparently some of our ladies had a memorable game for a variety of reasons. To mention but a few I understand that Marlene Billings and Angela Fletcher lost a ball up a tree on the eighth fair way, after looking for it, (in the wrong tree) a provisional ball was taken, they then retrieved the ball from the right tree, with penalty, and continued. Later in the game they took 12 shots on our notorious 16th hole, which we all know is a Par 3! However, Angela came back to redeem herself with a chip in on the 18th from under the chestnut tree to score a birdie after the cracking drive from Marlene. Dee Machin and Lesley Kewley had a high score on the front nine then the dynamics changed as they were let through and they lost their momentum on the back nine, still scoring a net 80.5, so well done ladies. What a memorable game of golf!

Congratulations to our winning Ladies - Gill Smith and Carol Yates with a net score of 78.5

Runners Up were Dee Machin and Lesley Kewley with a net 80.5

Pictured is Lady Captain Eunice Allen, with Gill Smith and Carol Yates

A friendly competition was also played, without incident, and the winners were Margaret Roberts and Penny Osborne.

Ladies April Medal

Twenty eight Ladies played in a Medal competition on Tuesday 25th April. The weather was sunny but chilly after the warm days we have enjoyed. Most players were back in before the heavy rain and hail we had later in the day. Our course is looking superb with our greens running fast, which caught many of us out finding some putts difficult to hole.

The results were - 1st Division - Winner - Joan Hunt nett 75, Runner Up - Annie Bird nett 80. Division 2 - Winner - Verity Lawrance nett 81, Runner Up - Sally Deakin nett 83. Division 3 - Winner - Jenny Masser nett 77 and Runner Up Angela Fletcher also with nett 77 after count back.

We also celebrated Beryl Osborne’s special birthday with tea and a selection of delicious cakes. Congratulations Beryl - you are amazing and how wonderful that our Queen was able to join us to celebrate her birthday with you too! We all hope you enjoyed your birthday with your friends and family and wishing you many more to come.

Texas Scramble Competition

On Tuesday 18th April, 21 ladies played in an enjoyable Texas Scramble Competition in teams of three. The course was looking lush and the greens playing fast, taking some extra putts for some to hole the balls.

Our winning ladies were Joan Hunt, Marlene Billings and Lesley Curnock with a score of 72.4

Runners Up with a score of 75.5 were Eunice Allen, Jill Cleary and Julie Winter

The Winter Eclectic was also presented to Marlene Billings, well done!

The Flag Competition 11th April 2017

A very pleasant day with the course in great condition saw 31 ladies play the Flag Competition. Everyone hoping to have their flags firmly placed on the 18th fairway but sadly some missed out, although a few ended very respectably on the 17th! However, our winning ladies were Joan Hunt who’s flag was in the hole on the 18th and Mel Evans who narrowly missed her last putt to come second. Well done ladies!

Evesham Ladies Golf Break

24 ladies have just returned from The Abbey Hotel, Golf & Spa, Redditch. A superb venue, delightful accommodation, excellent food and service. We were looked after extremely well and everyone had an enjoyable time. The weather on Sunday was absolutely beautiful, showing the course and blossom to its glory. Monday was a little chilly but most of our ladies still wore their shorts!

A Texas Scramble, Drop Out was played on Sunday and an AM AM on Monday, winning teams were Penny Osborne, Jenny Masser, Jean Bevan, Mel Evans and Annie Bird, Julie Winter, Penny Osborne, Conryn Abbott respectively.

Well done ladies, looking forward to our next golf break away.

Coronation Foursomes - 4th April 2017

24 ladies went out on a chilly morning with a little wind to enter the qualifying round of the National Coronation Foursomes. Playing with half combined playing handicap was a little tricky for some pairs, but not for our winners:

Anne Cowley and Sally Deakin with 31 points

Runners up were Joan Hunt and Annie Bird with 30 points

Well done ladies and good luck with your next round.

March Stableford

Tuesday 28th March thirty one ladies graced the course for a Stableford Qualifier. It was a beautiful start to the day, blossom in full bloom, birds in song, albeit a peaceful game of golf. The course was playing well after maintenance work had been completed to the greens. Sadly the weather changed mid afternoon so a few ladies caught a nasty shower before completing their game.

The results were as follows:

Division 1

Winner - Anne Cowley with 30 points, well done, great to see you back
Runner Up - Joan Hunt with 28 points

Division 2

Runner Up - Jenny Masser with 31 points

Ladies March Medal

For our first qualifying medal of the new playing season, twenty seven ladies took part in what was to be a challenging competition. The wind blew strongly at times and the temperature was quite chilly. However, the Green’s staff did a grand job getting the course ready for us. The fairways were beautiful the golf balls just sat on fluffy grass ready to be propelled down the fairway.
The results were as follows:-

Division 1 Winner was Lesley Curnock with a fine score of 79 Net, trailing a little behind was Joan Hunt who managed a respectable 82 Net.

Division 2 Sally Deakin, Net 82 who won on count back from Jill Cleary

Division 3 The Lady Captain, Eunice came in again with a winning score of 79 Net, well played, followed closely behind her was Dinah Wood with 80 Net.

Waltz Competition

On a beautiful spring day 27 ladies graced our fairways to play a Waltz Competition - 1,2,3! This is a fun team event of three ladies, where one score counts on the first hole, two scores count on the second hole and all three scores to count on the third hole and so on. The pressure is on every third hole for the best scores to come in and we saw some very high scores. Well done Ladies!

The winning team with 84 points were Gill Smith, Audrey Tomkins and Sally Deakin, Runners up with 76 on count back were Ruth Masters, Mel Evans and Eunice Allen.

Lady Captain’s Drive In Tuesday 7th March 2017

On a bright, sunny, spring morning Eunice Allen, Lady Captain, drove three superb drives down the first fairway landing near the feet of Lesley Curnock, Beryl Osborne and Jill Cleary.

After a photo shoot in front of the Club House, 25 ladies then continued to enjoy the beautiful weather playing a Bogey Competition. Not for the faint hearted as this competition is somewhat difficult to understand. It is Stroke Play, where players play against the course, scoring either a plus, level or minus.

The winner was Ruth Masters with plus 4, 2nd was Eunice Allen with plus 1 and 3rd was Jenny Masser with a level score.
and all the ladies celebrating.....
